Deeprock

A tabletop diorama dungeon crawler, in development.

Prototype v0.1.0-dev23 Built 2026-09-28 Godot 4.6 Single player, for now

You run a small company of heroes who delve for gold. Pick a contract at the Cartographer's table, walk the region map to a mine mouth, explore the floors in real time and fight in turns with a d20 on the table. Extract with your haul or push deeper. Back at camp: hire, upgrade the Hearth, trade, build defences, and hold the gate when the raiders follow you home. Death is permanent.

The region map painted in relief, with the camp, the dungeon mouths and mist beyond the edge
The region: the land painted in relief, the camp and every known mouth, mist where the map ends.
The company's banner at a dungeon mouth on the map, asked whether to go in
On the road: the way walked solid, the way ahead dotted; at the mouth the company waits for the word.
Four hero miniatures in a torchlit dungeon room
Floor 1: the company at the entrance, torches lit; the minimap keeps the explored floor in the corner.
Turn-based combat with move and attack tiles highlighted
A fight: initiative, action points, blue tiles to move and a red one to strike.
A deeper floor lit by glowing fungus
Floor 3: fungal gloom, and something waiting in the dark.
A flooded hall on a deep floor, water tiles between the flagstones and a brazier burning
Rooms with a purpose: a flooded hall — slow going, dim torches. Elsewhere a barracks asleep, a locked vault, rubble to dig.
A road event card: goblins have strung a toll rope across the path
On the road: a card asks what you do. Pay the goblins, or cut the rope.
The base camp panel over the region map
Camp: the company, recruits at the gate, the Hearth, the Storehouse.
A skeleton facing the company: the heroes carry their swords, mace and shield
The dead walk the moonlight floors; a skeleton is a heap of bones that gets up once. The figures now carry what they wear.
The company's ledger at camp: totals, averages, bests and streaks
The ledger: everything measured — totals, averages, bests with who, where and when, streaks; heroes, the bestiary, the mouths, box scores per expedition, the memorial and the chronicle.
The region map in rain, streaks over the land and the weather on the corner dial
Weather, rolled at every dawn: rain slows the road and puts the torches out, fog hides more, snow comes with winter.

The builds are for invited testers: the download asks for a name and password.

Prefer not to install? The plain .exe (209 MB) runs from any folder.

The build is not signed, so SmartScreen will warn. Choose More info, then Run anyway.

The app is not notarised. The first time, right-click it and choose Open, then Open again in the dialog. If macOS still refuses, run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "Deeprock Prototype.app" in Terminal once.

Prototype builds: graybox art on purpose, the game loop is what is being tested. Saves live in your user folder and survive updates. If something breaks, the game keeps a journal named deeprock.log next to the save (the Help screen shows the exact path). Send it along with what you were doing.

How to play

  1. At camp, press Embark and pick a contract, or none.
  2. On the map, click a mine mouth. The company walks there; the clock runs.
  3. Explore: click a hero, click a tile. G moves the whole party in formation. Open chests from beside them.
  4. Combat starts when monsters see you. Blue tiles move, a red-lit monster is a strike, a green-lit fallen friend a revive. T ends the turn.
  5. The stairs go deeper. The glowing exit in the first room takes you home with your gold.
  6. Lose everyone and the carried gold is gone. Banked gold is safe. The dead stay dead.
